Insulted?

This is the second casino (after the one in Singapore) that The Raja exposed or made fun of after he or his employees have been treated in a shabby manner.  Obviously, we are being highly entertained in the process.  However, if I am reading The Raja correctly, he is also putting the marketing department at other casinos on notice as follows:  If you treat me and my employees respectfully, you will be rewarded.  If not, you are going to be exposed.

In my opinion, this man is a genius.

I agree in some aspect of what Nicholas said however in the case of the Fed EX box Raja doesn't know what's in side. He's giving a natural reaction to the situation like any human being would. This is an instance where no gift would be better than a gift.
It's the real world live that he shares, so we would react the same way if we just put many thousands down a slot machine.
I'm happy he shared the experience and didn't open the box previously to going live, we truly understand how most of the casino's best interest is in our money, not in feeling like we are valued.

(I was sad about this, TBJ deserved a lot more)

My local casino has started handing out gifts.  I personally hate that they do this.  I used to get comped up to $600 in food at the steakhouse after going there.  Now they cap that comp at $195 and every 6 months want to give me some piece of crap luggage set or something similar.  I don't know what they are thinking.

I would prefer to get food comps over gifts.  Unless they comp me Breitling watches or something decent.

most now a days just give free play instead of the giftcards which is much better since I rather have the free play then a random gift card i may never use

This morning the casino emailed me to send me the weekend comps update.  I got $100 more for the steakhouse plus a bunch of buffets, $75 in cash back and $135 in free play.  The $100 in food will get me a nice T-Bone and the King crab appetizer.  The free play money will get me the usual $0.  Is it just me that has zero luck on free play?  It's kind of to the point where I don't believe the people that say the machine doesn't know.  I don't even seem to get play out of it.  The most free play I have had was $600 and I usually get north of $100.  Those are decent enough amounts that I should see something...If i ever do, you will hear me.  I'll be the one yelling FINNNALLLLLYYYYYY....:)

I don't quite get the algorithms casinos use for comps. The local Hollywood send me $10/month for food, and maybe $15/30 a week in free play. My mom, who gambles less, gets about $10/week in free play but more in the form of free buffets and dining credits. Not to mention they used to send me free weekend hotel stays, but recently changed it to just week nights for me, kind of a bummer.

It almost seems random.  The cashback always seems predictable as it is $6 for every $1000 through the machine, but free play I agree is a mystery.  Sometimes my freeplay is quadruple my cash back and sometimes it is even with it.  Shouldn't it be a direct computation?

My casino also clawed back my weekend hotel nights.  I get three a month and now two of them are only valid Sunday to Thursday.  Its also harder to get a room comped.  They are allocating a greater percentage of the hotel to people that pay vs. those of us who have already paid. (Many times over)  Must be hard times for Harrah's.

They also stopped changing cards every 3 hours.  Now they change cards once every 24 hours or as needed if one gets damaged/bent etc as I guess it was breaking the bank.  Good place to play poker I guess if you know how to subtly mark the cards.

Beats me. As a low roller, I don't expect $1,000 comps or free meals in the steakhouse, but I enjoyed taking advantage of the hotel from time to time. Everyone's scaling back, why should casinos be any different? :)

  • I work in a town with 2 casinos nearby. The influx of customers that use the free hotel room comps is great, but they can be A holes to wait on cuz they lost their money at local casinos. They want their clothes and stuff at my store to be free!
  • One of the casinos is in a beautiful beach town, but none of the traffic has made the small shops any money, it depleats the local economy.
  • my take is, give ppl the free play, gamers only want that, I believe in keeping your most frequent customers happy. There will be seasons of bad weather, and you can be sure your regulars show up, play, tip the workers, and eat the food. In 5 years, the quality of the food in our local buffet has gone down so bad, we do not suggest their venue to out of towners. We swear they recycle the food.

If it wasn't for the free play my local casino gives back, then I'd say it an insult ,but I can agree my local casino gives back crappy 20 dollar or less in gifts, definitely not worth the amount you paid out ....

I once got a 10 pack of floating frames from my local Indian, after looking at it for awhile, I realized they were factory rejects! (having not putting the mounting hole on the photo insert side, meaning the photo falls out when hung. When I was a higher level players club member, I would get better stuff but there were always ppl that got even better stuff. Having the highest tier (copper) I questioned their gift giving policies and they said it was "just that way". I would get Forman grills up the ass but little old lady would get the plasma TV, made no sense!
