Truly random. Had just gotten done playing bank of VP to the right of PF at Paris (Vegas). Was a few hundy to the good so I dropped 200 into the machine. Hit the bonus within 4 spins. While picking the squares, I thought it was broken (was my first time on that machine) because I kept getting spins and multipliers (started with 20 spins and 5x). Retriggered to the tune of 80 spins when it was all said and done. Not pissed at the result but looking back, coulda been so much more now that you mention it.

That is the 5 symbol curse.  I triggered a Timber wolf bonus round and got free games.  During the free games I got $125 for the 5 owl retrigger.  Not a multiplier in sight!!  By the time I was done I had retriggered 4 times and cashed out somewhere in the $350 range.  Just brutal!!  If those multipliers had showed up it would have been $6250 just to trigger.
I have had the 5 coin trigger on that darn dragons game a few times and cashed out almost exactly what the trigger paid.  
What games are out there that are guaranteed to be big wins with 5 symbol triggers?  I'm guessing there must be some?

It almost seems random.  The cashback always seems predictable as it is $6 for every $1000 through the machine, but free play I agree is a mystery.  Sometimes my freeplay is quadruple my cash back and sometimes it is even with it.  Shouldn't it be a direct computation?  
My casino also clawed back my weekend hotel nights.  I get three a month and now two of them are only valid Sunday to Thursday.  Its also harder to get a room comped.  They are allocating a greater percentage of the hotel to people that pay vs. those of us who have already paid. (Many times over)  Must be hard times for Harrah's.
They also stopped changing cards every 3 hours.  Now they change cards once every 24 hours or as needed if one gets damaged/bent etc as I guess it was breaking the bank.  Good place to play poker I guess if you know how to subtly mark the cards.  
 

Went out to celebrate my sons birthday by taking him to the casino.  Had a pretty decent night.  Some wins....Would have been a great night if I had of stayed away from Big Red and Lock it Link.   My son hit the $1060 one.  I hit the $1305 playing 5 cents denom and the $993.50 playing a dime.

My local casino has started handing out gifts.  I personally hate that they do this.  I used to get comped up to $600 in food at the steakhouse after going there.  Now they cap that comp at $195 and every 6 months want to give me some piece of crap luggage set or something similar.  I don't know what they are thinking.  
I would prefer to get food comps over gifts.  Unless they comp me Breitling watches or something decent.

Payback percentages are calculated based on the machine being played for an infinite # of spins for an infinite time period.  I have never heard of the lease period having anything to do with it and I doubt there is a way to tell the machine that moving day is coming soon.   We have all seen banks of machines posted that they will be removed at X date and time.  I've never noticed any pattern of happier people at those machines.

So, I have been watching bleary eyed, every moment of the live plays and I just don't get it.  How is it possible that Scott can play so many hours and only have a best hit ever of $65,000 or so...??   
I have had 2 $10,000 hits playing penny slots for $3 a pull and have had too many to count between $1,000 and $5,000 .  Scott should have occasional line hits at his max bet in the hundreds of thousands.  When I have played $25-$80 a spin I get nothing usually.   
A really good win is 1000X my bet or higher,  but in high limit play, a really good win is 100X or less.  Black Widow full screen of the ladies is 50X the bet.  It doesn't seem right.

My biggest win wasn't just one hit.  It was the best night ever where I got 7 handpays.  (Canadian Casino though so handpays begin around $600 or so..)
 

Playing $15 per spot on let it ride I was dealt 3 Kings.  The dealer gave me my 4 of a kind.  7 hands later the exact same thing happened with 3 7's and the dealer had the 4th.  Not a bad night!

About 10 years ago I was playing roulette at the local Indian casino.  #17 hit on the wheel and I had $10 on it.  I was waiting for the payouts to finish and I felt someone scratch my neck.  I turned around and a very old Chinese woman was standing there.  She said to me, "last week this table hit #17 three times in a row and it's going to do it again now."
I smiled and ignored her but I let my bet ride and put more money out there.  Next spin #17 hit and she said "I told you so.  You have one chance left".  I reluctantly put $25 on all the corners, splits and straight up.  It hit again.  I turned, and she was nowhere to be seen.  She was too old to move very fast and it seriously creeped me out.  Wish I had of listened to her from the outset.  Putting $100 on all the spots would have been sweet.

My biggest was in March of 2017 at Mystic Lake Casino in Minnesota... I've won my fair share of jackpots but usually $1,600 or under but this particular one was my biggest $10,300.. the cool part was how I won it ?.. I go to the casino at around 9pm with 60 dollars to play ( the most I ever take is 100 and that's even rare lol).. anyhow, my night was one of those nights where you can't win but can't lose either lol up and down all night but never to the point where I should just take my win and run kind of night... finally 3am was around the corner ( I had to be home by 4am because my mom had to head to work, she was my babysitter) I just started playing out of the norm and quickly lost what I had.. on my way out the door I reach in my pocket for my phone to check the time again and realize I have to tickets that I cashed out earlier, one was for $1.85 and the other was for .52 cents lol.. I pick a random machine and stick the tickets in, I didn't have enough for the max bet of 2.50 so I do 2.00 bet.. I got two lines of the lol devil girls lol but nothing lined up but it triggered a respin and that s when I got ravens ??.. in my mind I was like yay I won a couple of hundred dollars but when I saw what I really won I was in disbelief ?.. it happened so fast too.. I was in shock!! I definitely thanked God cause I knew it was him saying " here you go, take the boys on mini vaca lol" !!

One day I went to my local Indian casino and the bank guys were working on the ATM.  I only had $40 so I plopped it down on my hockey number on roulette and walked to the other machines in the slot area.  When I came back I had $1400 waiting for me as my number hit.  Well that was the best night with the least invested ever.  After 6 more hours at that table I cashed out $15,000 and figured that I should go hammer the higher limit slots.  An hour later, I was in my car with nothing to show for it.  I swear those machines knew it was casino money being fed into them and they got it all back.  So, best night ever was also the worst night ever.
